Webber

July 21, 2009

It was late. Past midnight, even. My wife and I hadn’t gone to bed that late in a while, but we knew we could sleep in the next day. We turned off the lights, said goodnight, and closed our eyes. Then the bird started chirping. !? Yeah, I didn’t know there were birds that sing at night either. Based on the variance of song we figured it must be a mockingbird, so we decided to name him Webber (after Derek Webb and his song “Mockingbird”).

As it turns out, Webber most likely is a mockingbird. Apparently during mating season, or where there are bright lights, some mockingbirds will sing in the middle of the night. Weird, eh?
